"Students from Randolph, Jay and Darke Counties will have an opportunity with our wind project to learn about alternative energy as well as receive training on maintenance of an operational wind turbine. For Randolph Eastern Schools, this has been a wonderful opportunity to develop a partnership that combines the best of economic development, collaboration, education and environmental stewardship."

Located in eastern Indiana, Randolph County boasts natural wind resources and now has the distinction of being the first community in the nation to use wind power to generate energy for the benefit of a school corporation and a city.
The construction project will include two 330-foot high, two-blade turbines with the electricity generated returned to the grid to be sold. The revenue generated will benefit the school and city budgets by offsetting current utility costs. Both wind turbines will be operational by February 2010.
