Indiana's Flagship Wind Project

On February 4, 2011, the Purdue Board of Trustees approved a land lease agreement as part of a 60-turbine commercial wind energy park in Tippecanoe County. This partnership between Purdue University, Purdue Research Foundation and Performance Services will create Indiana's first wind project with an Indiana-based developer and Indiana construction partners.

Identified as a "true scientific destination" for researchers around the world, the wind park is expected to attract up to $30 million each year in sponsored research.

The purpose of this web page is to provide published updates about the project with a timeline of upcoming milestones required to bring the wind park to reality.

Remaining Project Milestones

Our team has achieved many project requirements but a few key milestones remain:

• Power purchase agreement
• State approval for Purdue land lease
• Grid interconnection
• Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) approval
• Wind turbines ordered
• Wind park operational by December 31, 2012
