Dr. Aaron G. Geter Jr.

Dr. Aaron G. Geter Jr. is the former Superintendent of the Wilkinson County School System for fifteen years. Prior to his appointment, he was the principal for ten years at Wilkinson County Middle School. Aaron served as a classroom educator for eleven years in several different school districts in Georgia, which include Wheeler County High School (2), Jones County High School (1), and Harris County High School (8).

Dr. Geter is a proud graduate of Wheeler County High School, received his undergraduate degree from Mercer University in Health and Physical Education, his Master and Specialist degrees in Educational Leadership were obtained from Troy State University, and his Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from South Carolina State University.

In the professional arena of leadership in Georgia, Dr. Geter is highly respected for expertise in educational leadership. He served as president for Georgia School Superintendent Association (GSSA), he is the former president of Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL), former president of the Oconee Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA), Consultant with the Clayton County Public Schools Foundation, GAEL Executive Leadership Coach, Assistant Professor at Mercer University, and he is the current Polemarch of the Dublin Alumni of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

Dr. Geter was inducted into the Mercer University Athletics Hall of Fame, Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and the Georgia Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. He has been named Coach of the Year over 14 times in his coaching career. He lettered four years in high school in basketball, track, football, and baseball. Also, he lettered four years in basketball at Mercer University where he played in the NCAA tournament in 1985. He has coached in his career girls and boys basketball, girls and boys track, football, baseball, and golf.

Dr. Geter served as the head boys basketball coach for the Wilkinson County High School Warriors where he led the boys to ten state championships from 1998-2018 while continuing to serve as Middle School Principal and Superintendent.

He retired after 37 years in public education (15.5 years as Superintendent, 10.5 years as Middle School Principal, and 11 years as a Teacher).
