A District Committed to Doing More with Less

Glasgow Public Schools set out with a clear goal: Reduce energy costs, improve building performance, and create more comfortable learning environments for students and staff. Like many districts, it faced rising utility expenses and aging equipment. Instead of settling for incremental fixes, they chose a comprehensive approach. In 2024, the district partnered with Performance Services to implement a targeted energy-efficiency project to deliver measurable, lasting results.

Strategic Upgrades Across the District

The initiative focused on high-impact improvements across multiple facilities, including the Middle/High School, Agriculture Building, and Glasgow Elementary School. Each improvement was selected to maximize efficiency, enhance occupant comfort, and extend the life of critical building systems. The project scope included:

  • Installation of new interior and exterior LED lighting
  • Addition of a high-efficiency chiller
  • Implementation of new dedicated outside air systems (DOAS)
  • Ventilation improvements to enhance comfort and indoor air quality
  • Retro-commissioning to optimize building performance
  • Building automation system (BAS) upgrades for smarter control
  • Restroom renovations

Results That Outperformed Projections

The impact was immediate and measurable. In its first year alone, the project generated:

  • $11,279 in energy savings
  • Exceeding the projected $8,879 annual savings by 27%

In addition to operational savings, the district secured substantial financial support to offset project costs. These incentives strengthened the return on investment and reinforced the district’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.

  • $34,995 in lighting rebates
  • $150,000 in state grant funding
