The Merrillville Community School Corporation School Board and Administration proudly celebrated the completion of major renovations at Edgar L. Miller Elementary School on Tuesday, March 24th, 2026.
The milestone event marked a significant investment in the district’s ongoing commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments where students can thrive and educators can do their best work.
“It is with great pride that Miller Elementary celebrates more than a renovated building, but a space that provides our students with an environment that inspires a lifelong love of learning. This renovation represents our belief that every child deserves a safe and welcoming place to grow and thrive,” remarked Jennifer Griffin, Miller School Principal.
Edgar L. Miller Elementary School is one of several district initiatives focused on enhancing educational spaces for Merrillville students. The comprehensive renovation brought meaningful upgrades designed to support student learning, comfort, and accessibility, including the construction of a new cafeteria and an accessible playground where students can learn, play, and connect. Additional improvements included upgraded interior and exterior LED lighting and a full HVAC replacement. Inside the building, students and staff now benefit from ADA-compliant restrooms, modernized classrooms, and a remodeled multi-purpose room, along with enhanced safety features that support secure, efficient, and welcoming building access for the school community.
