Dr. Larry Derico joined the Performance Services team in 2026 following his retirement after 33 years in public education. During his career, he served as a teacher, assistant principal, director of federal programs, director of curriculum and instruction, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. His 24 years of administrative experience, including eight years as superintendent, provided him with a broad understanding of the academic, operational, financial, and facility needs of a school district.
Throughout his tenure as superintendent, Dr. Derico worked closely with the Board of Education, district staff, community members, architects, engineers, and construction professionals to initiate and oversee a variety of facility improvements. These projects included new construction, renovations, roofing replacements, HVAC upgrades, and other improvements focused on creating safe, efficient, and supportive environments for students and employees. He also successfully helped secure voter approval for both E-SPLOST and bond referendums during his tenure.
Dr. Derico understands that successful school facility projects require more than effective design and construction. They also depend on thoughtful planning, clear communication, responsible stewardship of public resources, and a shared understanding of the district’s long-term goals. His experience working with educators, governing boards, and community stakeholders allows him to help connect educational priorities with the construction process.
As an Education Consultant, Dr. Derico is committed to building trusted relationships with school leaders and helping them make well-informed decisions about their facilities. His goal is to use the knowledge gained throughout his career to strengthen the partnership between education and construction and to support projects that serve students, staff, and communities for years to come.
