Rome, GA. Floyd County Schools and Model High School recently celebrated the completion of Model High School’s new athletic facility with a community open house held during the school’s Homecoming Block Party on October 1.
Students, families, alumni, staff, and community members had the opportunity to tour the new facility and see firsthand the spaces designed to support Model High School’s student-athletes, coaches, and athletic programs.
The new facility replaced the school’s aging fieldhouse with a modern, purpose-built space designed to better support athletes while enhancing the overall experience for students, coaches, and visitors.
The project is part of a larger investment by Floyd County Schools to transform athletic facilities at both Model and Pepperell High Schools. The district began the two-phase initiative to replace aging fieldhouses at both campuses with modern facilities designed around the needs of students, coaches, and their respective school communities.
“Both facilities are state-of-the-art,” said Floyd County Schools Superintendent, Dr. White. “I would like to thank the people of Floyd County for supporting our students and schools, as well as Performance Services for their help and assistance throughout the project.”
Model’s new athletic facility features separate home and visitor concession stands, a new weight room, a dedicated wrestling and cheerleading room, and new modern restrooms. A coach’s suite provides views of the field, while additional storage areas help support the school’s athletic programs and equipment needs.
Designed with flexibility in mind, the new facility provides spaces that can adapt to the needs of Model High School’s athletic programs while supporting training, preparation, team activities, and events throughout the year.
Floyd County Schools partnered with Design-Builder, Performance Services, to bring the District’s vision to life.
Hosting the open house as part of Model High School’s Homecoming Block Party provided an opportunity for the school community to come together, explore the completed spaces, and celebrate a new chapter for Model athletics.
