Western School Corporation Ground Breaking

Russiaville, IN. Western School Corporation broke ground on Thursday, April 30, 2026, marking the beginning of a transformative upgrade to the district’s Multiplex. The project includes a comprehensive renovation of the facility, delivering enhancements designed to improve student experience, athletic performance, and long-term sustainability.

As part of the project, the district is overseeing the conversion of the existing natural grass football field to a high-performance synthetic turf system, along with resurfacing and restriping of the running track and targeted exterior improvements across the complex. This comprehensive investment reflects Western School Corporation’s commitment to providing modern, safe, and durable spaces that support student-athletes and the broader school community.

“Western School Corporation’s mission is to educate and inspire today’s students for tomorrow’s opportunities.  We are committed to providing high-quality spaces where our students can learn, compete, and take pride in their school community,” said Superintendent, Mr. Mark DuBois. “This project represents a meaningful investment in our students, our programs, and our school community.  We are excited to bring Indiana’s first Pivot Turf field to Western School Corporation and look forward to the opportunities this upgraded facility will provide for years to come.”

The new turf system—installed in partnership with Tencate—will replace the existing natural grass field, providing a consistent playing surface, increased field availability, and reduced maintenance requirements. The surface is designed to support durability and reliable performance across a range of conditions and levels of use. The system also incorporates features intended to reduce water use and support end-of-life recycling.

This project marks the first installation of a Pivot Turf system in the state of Indiana.

Construction is scheduled for completion in August 2026, positioning Western High School to begin the upcoming athletic seasons with a fully modernized complex that supports both performance and community engagement.
