For the past 45 years, James has worked for public schools in Arkansas. He retired in June 2020 after having served as a coach, principal, and for the past 26 years, superintendent of schools. He also has served as president of the Arkansas School Administrators Association and president of the Arkansas Rural Education Association for four years. He served twice as president of the National Rural Education Association and has participated on various education committees at the state level. James is very familiar with the budgets and other financial decisions that school boards and administrators must make on a daily basis.
James lives in Plainview, AR with his daughter and four grandkids. Along with the enjoyment of spending time with his grandkids, he also is fond of playing golf.
