Alex joined the Performance Services team in 2023. He has spent his 24-year career designing higher education and K-12 facilities for a multitude of clients. 13 of those years were spent at Cordogan Clark Architects, where he rose to Vice President – Director of K-12 Education. Alex is a talented, award-winning designer, recognized by his peers at the AIA for outstanding work. Some of his designs include Elgin Community College Multi-Purpose Classroom Building, Elgin, IL; Lincoln-Way North High School, Frankfort, IL; Clinton Elementary School, Clinton, IL; Silas Willard Elementary School, Galesburg, IL; Hinsdale Middle School, Hinsdale, IL, and most recently being the Lead Design Architect for the 5th Ward K-8 school in Evanston, IL (currently on the boards, scheduled to open in 2025).

Alex is a member of the Illinois Association of School Board Officials, where he has been present at their annual conference for the last 19 years. Alex has interviewed countless school superintendents, officials, and board of education members at many National School Board Association conferences from San Diego to Miami on the Issues in Education think-tank platform – a series of informative and thought-provoking interviews on YouTube.

Alex is very involved in his community. He is currently serving a four-year term as an elected official in the office of Trustee for Elgin Township, and he is a Zoning and Planning Commissioner in the City of Elgin. Alex is also a member of the Board of Directors at Invest Aurora, a public-private partnership and Secretary (Vice President–Elect) of the American Institute of Architects Northeast Illinois Chapter.

Alex was born in Mexico City, Mexico and migrated to the US with his parents and brother when he was ten years old. He is a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and season ticket holder of 21 years. He has traveled all over the US and Mexico on solo rides on this Harley Davidson and is an avid SCUBA diver, always looking for the next dive in the Caribbean. Recently, Alex and his son have taken up back-country hiking and camping in the wilderness of Yellowstone and the Grand Teton. When Alex and his wife have time to spare, they enjoy watching television and hanging out with Bella, their 6-year-old rescue pup.
