In 2022, Arrowhead Union High School District made a strategic decision to upgrade and modernize systems at both its North and South Campus locations. Committed to providing high-quality learning environments and responsibly managing operational costs, the district partnered with Performance Services to improve building performance and energy efficiency through targeted infrastructure upgrades.
The district prioritized upgrades that would enhance comfort, reduce energy consumption, and improve the control and automation of building systems.
Key Improvements Included:
North Campus
- Installed new variable air volume (VAV) boxes for more precise climate control
- Upgraded to a new building automation system (BAS) to allow real-time monitoring and smarter energy use
- Replaced the library ceiling
- Replaced fluorescent lighting for high-efficiency LED fixtures in the library
South Campus
- Installed new VAV boxes for more precise climate control
- Installed a new building automation system (BAS)
- Integrated new rooftop unit and pool office control damper into the building automation system
District-Wide Enhancements
- Programmed new VAV boxes and installed controllers and sensors for VAV control
- Replaced hot water reheat coils and hot water control valves for greater thermal efficiency
Phase 1 of the project was completed in June 2023, with a total investment of $2.98 million. The district’s decision to act before systems failed ensured uninterrupted learning and positioned Arrowhead as a forward-thinking leader in educational facility stewardship.
