Project Description
In 2023, the City of Deer Park partnered with Performance Services to implement a forward-thinking Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System. The energy savings performance contract project began in Spring 2024 and is estimated to be completed by the end of the year. The project includes the replacement of all 12,262 existing water meters with new Neptune smart water meters. These meters will be connected to a secure AMI network, providing real-time water usage data to the city and residents.
The project is Deer Park’s first step toward becoming a Smart City. This 21st-century technology will create operational efficiencies through real-time, actionable water data. The system will provide more accurate utility analytics and consumption data, better data management, reduced water loss, lower labor costs, improved leak detection, and the ability to send alerts and messages to customers. This will equip the City to provide more proactive water management and improved customer service to water customers. Additionally, once installed, residents can access a secure online customer portal to better manage their water usage.
