Project Description

The City of Henderson partnered with Performance Services to implement an energy savings contract to modernize the City’s infrastructure. The implementation of smart metering, distribution side pressure monitoring, leak detection, and efficient updated lighting will move the City closer to a Smart Utility System.

The project includes the replacement of all 5,350 existing water meters with new “smart” water meters that are connected to a secure Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Network. Moving the City’s metering system to AMI will move the City closer to its goal of using “Smart City” technology for proactive management through actionable data. This 21st Century technology will enhance the City’s capabilities to provide their customers with visibility of their account to show water usage in near real-time. The implementation of distribution side leak detection and pressure monitoring enables the City to quickly detect and eliminate leaks, which will improve performance and service. LED lighting will replace outdated and inefficient lighting in City buildings, providing the City with energy cost savings.

Project Highlights

  • Installation of advanced metering infrastructure (5,350 meters)
  • Online portal for customers to view and track water consumption data
  • Distribution side leak detection and pressure monitoring
  • LED lighting at city buildings
