A Vision for Elevated Learning Environments

In early 2022, Montgomery County R‑II School District recognized that some learning spaces were outdated and did not support the educational experience they planned for students and teachers. Determined to make a meaningful change, district leaders selected Performance Services through a competitive selection process to help lead a multi-phase transformation project.

Rapid Results in Just Six Months

The initiative began with a fast-track summer renovation at Montgomery City Elementary School. Over six months, including four months of actual construction from May to August, a full transformation of 10 classrooms was completed. Even as punch-list items wrapped up in September, classrooms were substantially ready for students and staff by the first day of school. This phase 1 project is guaranteed to provide $48,138 in annual energy and operational savings for 15 years and includes the following improvements:

  • New ceilings, LED lighting, and flooring give classrooms a modern, welcoming look
  • Upgraded classroom casework
  • Installed new sinks with hot and cold water supply in each classroom

Keeping the Project Momentum Going

Since the initial project at Montgomery City Elementary, the district has continued its momentum through multiple targeted phases. Renovations have included Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classrooms, ongoing improvements to Jonesburg Elementary, and HVAC upgrades districtwide. The high school is next in line, with a two-part HVAC modernization scheduled over two consecutive summers to minimize disruption to students and teachers.

Improvements That Make a Difference

Montgomery County R-II Schools is showing what it means to invest in facilities with purpose. By breaking the work into well-planned phases and putting student needs first, the district is creating modern, welcoming, and resilient environments that will serve learners and educators well into the future.
