A Community-Backed Vision for Education
In November 2022, Peshtigo voters overwhelmingly approved a referendum to expand and renovate the Middle/High School, with 64% in favor. The community made its priorities clear: invest in repairing aging infrastructure, improve safety, and update learning environments to meet today’s students’ needs—all while protecting the character of the original school building.
Collaborative Planning from Day One
To bring this vision to life, the District partnered with Performance Services to lead a transparent, inclusive planning process. Our team worked hand in hand with the district leadership team, Board, parents, staff, students, and community members to plan and design the best options for learning. Together, we explored ideas, prioritized needs, and designed a solution with flexible/functional learning spaces that met the needs of staff and students.
Renovations that Honor Historical Context
The result is a comprehensive project that includes both new construction and restoration of historic elements, ensuring the building is functional, inspiring, and timeless.
Key improvements include:
- Renovated and modernized classrooms to support today’s teaching and learning
- New technical education lab focused on manufacturing and construction pathways
- A new multi-purpose gymnasium for athletics and performances
- A fitness center to promote wellness and student health
- Repair and replacement of essential infrastructure throughout the building
And importantly, the project respects and restores the school’s historic elements
- Restoration of the historic glue-laminated structure in the original gymnasium
- Refurbishment of the original brick façade on the two-story academic building
- Reopening of historic window openings to their original sizes, improving natural light and aesthetics
- New additions designed to match the historical architectural context, preserving the school’s iconic look while introducing modern functionality
This is more than a renovation project. It’s a community-led investment in student learning, workforce readiness, and civic pride—with built-in flexibility to adapt to future needs. By blending modern learning environments with preserved historical character, Peshtigo School District is ensuring that its schools not only serve today’s students but also remain a source of pride for generations to come.
