Buna ISD faced significant challenges due to outdated infrastructure and equipment across its facilities. With one elementary school, a middle school, and a newly constructed high school, the district struggled with aging facilities, originally built in the mid-1900s. Key issues included a failing air handling unit at the middle school, a barely operational HVAC system in the gym, and high energy consumption from outdated lighting systems. These issues drove up energy costs and impacted the comfort and learning environment for students and staff. The Solution
Performance Services collaborated with the district to deliver a $2.3 million project, addressing the following:
- LED Lighting Upgrades: Replaced outdated lighting with high-efficiency LED systems across all facilities, including the football field.
- Transformer Replacement: Installed modern, energy-efficient transformers at the elementary school.
- HVAC System Overhaul: Replaced the gym’s HVAC system with a reliable, high-performance unit.
- Building Controls Modernization: Upgraded temperature and ventilation controls, including refrigeration systems, for better energy management.
- Field House Enhancements: Renovated lighting and controls on both home and visitor sides of the football field to meet modern standards.
