A Visionary District Takes the First Step
Located in central Illinois, Clinton Community Unit School District No. 15 serves approximately 1,600 K–12 students. For years, the district has embraced forward-thinking approaches to improve facilities and student experiences—and in 2024, that mindset led them to make state history.
After a competitive RFQ/P process, Clinton CUSD 15 selected Performance Services to deliver the very first public K-12 design-build project in the State of Illinois, setting a precedent for streamlined delivery and strong owner collaboration. It wasn’t just a facilities project—it was a turning point in how public schools in Illinois can build smarter.
A Two-Phase Project, Delivered with Flexibility and Impact
Delivered in two phases, the project focused on both infrastructure improvements and enhancing community-focused spaces:
Phase 1 Scope:
- Door hardware replacement at Clinton High School
- Owner-directed allowance, giving the district flexibility to address additional priorities during construction
Phase 2 Scope:
- Auditorium sound system upgrade, dramatically improving audio clarity and coverage for performances and events
- Acoustic attenuation enhancements, elevating the overall experience for students, performers, and the community during events in the high school auditorium
A Model for Future Success
Clinton CUSD 15 didn’t just upgrade its facilities—it demonstrated how public schools in Illinois can move faster, plan smarter, and deliver high-quality results. By choosing design-build, they maximized collaboration, reduced risk, and added value to their project.
Their success stands as a model for other districts across the state looking for efficient, student-centered solutions that don’t sacrifice quality or flexibility.
