Project Description

This project had been years in the making. After a decade of talks, Elkhart County decided to consolidate its courts into a single, consolidated court building, providing equal access to county residents, government efficiencies, and opportunities for future expansion. Next, the county spent two years searching and conducting site analyses to determine the site for this project. In 2020, Elkhart County purchased 32 acres of land to build the new courthouse. With a site and a plan, the next step was selecting a qualified partner. After a rigorous selection process, the county selected the Performance Services team to design and construct the project using the progressive design-build construction method.

The project broke ground in November 2021 and is expected to be completed by December 2024. Once complete, the new court building will provide a central location, easily accessible for county residents and government officials. It will provide government efficiencies as judges, attorneys, and citizens won’t need to go between two locations. Lastly, the new building allows for future expansion when necessary.
