
Merrillville Community School Corporation School Board and Administration celebrated the completion of building renovations at Homer Iddings Elementary School on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025.
Superintendent Dr. Dexter Suggs, remarked, “The renovation of Homer Iddings Elementary School marks a powerful new chapter in our school corporation’s story where the past is honored and the future is embraced. With every brick laid and every corner thoughtfully reimagined, this transformation has created more than just a beautiful building; it has built a renewed sense of pride, possibility, and purpose. The remarkable updates within these walls: modern classrooms, inspiring learning spaces, and innovative resources serve as a testament to our shared commitment to education and the limitless potential of every student who walks through the doors of Homer Iddings Elementary School.”
Homer Iddings Elementary School is one of several projects aimed at equipping the district’s students and staff with cutting-edge facilities. The extensive renovation project included upgrades to both interior and exterior LED lighting, HVAC replacement, and substantial interior improvements such as ADA-compliant restrooms, modernized classrooms, and enhanced safety features for secure and convenient entry.
