A Vision Rooted in Function and Community
Floyd County Schools in Georgia recognized a need shared by many high-performing districts: facilities that match the pride, potential, and passion of their students and community. While the football fields and tracks at Pepperell and Model High Schools had recently been updated, the existing fieldhouses told a different story—aging structures with limited space, outdated amenities, and growing inefficiencies.
District leaders saw an opportunity not just to replace these fieldhouses, but to reimagine them as hubs of school pride, performance, and flexibility. They sought a partner who could bring innovation, collaboration, and cost-effectiveness to the table—and decided to try a new process with a new team.
Ground Up Transformations
In 2025, Floyd County Schools embarked on a two-phase project to transform the fieldhouses at two high school buildings. The projects—both full demolition and rebuilds—begin construction in the fall and are expected to be completed by fall 2026, in time for the start of the football season.
Phase 1: Pepperell High School
The existing fieldhouse, weight room, and outbuildings will be demolished to make room for the new fieldhouse. The new facility is more than a support building; it’s a functional, multi-use space designed to improve athletic programming and enhance the fan experience. Features include:
- New, modernized restrooms
- Concession stand with shelter from the elements
- Home and guest locker rooms
- Weight room equipped for training and film sessions
- A coach’s suite overlooking the field and a covered viewing deck for coaches and VIP seating
- Dedicated training and laundry rooms, as well as generous storage for pads and track equipment
Phase 2: Model High School
At Model High School, the rebuild brings similar momentum to Pepperell. With the new space, Model High will gain an athletic facility that supports both individual athletes and team culture, while reflecting school spirit. Project highlights include:
- Modern locker rooms and restrooms
- Separate home/visitor concession stands
- A weight room and a dedicated wrestling/cheerleading room
- A coach’s suite with clear field views
- Versatile storage areas
What Sets This Project Apart
With both projects underway, Floyd County Schools sets a powerful example: that facilities can be functional, future-ready, and a source of pride. These new fieldhouses will serve athletes, coaches, and fans for years to come, reflecting the district’s ongoing commitment to smart investments and strong student support. These purpose-built environments will:
- Adapt to future needs, with convertible film/training spaces
- Elevate coaching and player development through thoughtful layouts
- Create community pride with facilities that match excellence on the field
