The Challenge

By 2022, Warsaw Community High School had grown outdated—its design no longer aligned with modern educational needs. Narrow circulation, limited collaboration zones, and outdated science and arts classrooms made it harder for teachers and students to thrive. As a result of these programming limitations, the District sought expansion and renovation to meet its desired curriculum needs.

The District’s Vision

After four years of development and design iteration, the District had clear goals for its space. They desired to transform the facility into a welcoming, secure, and student-centered space, all without imposing additional taxes on the community. To bring that vision to reality, the District partnered with Performance Services through a competitive selection process.

The Solution

The project broke ground in the Fall of 2022 and was completed in phases to ensure minimal disruption to the learning environment. The final construction phase was completed on time and on budget by the end of 2024. Renovations included:

  • Secure, Welcoming Entrance: A new main entry and office vestibule concentrates visitor access for safety and ease. Staff and students know exactly where to go.
  • Streamlined Circulation: Corridor layouts and traffic flows—both inside and out—were reconfigured to eliminate bottlenecks and support smooth, daily routines.
  • Modern STEM & Arts Spaces: Labs and classrooms were upgraded with flexible designs and updated finishes to support science, arts, and technical programs.
  • Collaborative Commons: New flexible and casual learning spaces foster creativity, club activities, and social connection.

The Results

Thanks to strong collaboration between staff, the community, and Performance Services, the project stayed ahead of schedule and under budget. The first phase, including the main entrance and traffic improvements, opened in August 2023, with the remainder of the renovations completed in 2024. Overall, the project has resulted in an enhanced and more collaborative learning environment for students, faculty, and staff.
