Beech Grove, IN. Beech Grove City Schools board members, staff, and students gathered on Tuesday, May 18th, to break ground for the construction of the new Hornet Park Early Childhood Learning Center as an addition to and remodeling the existing Hornet Park Elementary School. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the site of the new building.

The Hornet Park Early Childhood Learning Center development is part of a $17 million design-build project approved by referendum in June 2020. This new addition will expand Hornet Park Elementary School’s offering to Early Childhood. As such, additional early childhood-specific classrooms and support spaces will provide for early childhood and all Pre-K through 1st-grade programs. The building will receive a new secure main entrance, administration suite, student services space, and general finish renovations. The target completion of the project is July 2022.

“I am so proud of the Beech Grove City Schools School Board and broader school community for recognizing that early childhood education is a critical offering to ensure students are prepared and ready for a robust K-12 experience,” said Dr. Laura Hammack, Superintendent. “I can think of nothing more hopeful than welcoming preschool-aged children through the doors of Hornet Park Elementary School for generations to come. We could not have realized this vision without the support of our community, and for that, we will be forever grateful. We are Hornet proud!”
