After a comprehensive preliminary analysis of its facilities, leaders at the School District of Menomonee Falls saw an opportunity to modernize its buildings—not just to replace aging systems but to provide students and staff with more reliable, comfortable, and functional learning environments. With aging mechanical infrastructure and inefficient systems creating daily challenges, the district made a strategic decision to reinvest in its buildings for the long term.
Their focus was clear: Improve the learning environment while ensuring minimal disruption to instruction.
Transformative Improvements
From 2018 to 2020, the district executed a comprehensive, multi-phase facility upgrade plan. Work was carefully scheduled over breaks and summer months to avoid impacting students and staff.
Across multiple buildings, the district replaced or modernized critical building systems and created brighter, quieter, more responsive learning environments. Key improvements included:
- New HVAC equipment and mechanical upgrades to enhance temperature control and indoor air quality
- Modernized ceilings and LED lighting for improved visibility and energy performance
- System-wide control upgrades to provide better building management and comfort
These improvements not only addressed current operational needs but also positioned the district for better long-term maintenance, energy use, and classroom comfort.
Focused on Student Experience
Menomonee Falls prioritized upgrades that would directly benefit learning. By improving indoor air quality and lighting, reducing system noise, and providing more consistent temperatures, students and teachers can focus on learning—not distractions.
In addition to classrooms, updated HVAC and lighting systems in spaces like weight rooms, libraries, and administrative areas help support the full school day experience—before, during, and after class.
