Project Description

The energy savings work on the IUPUI campus was particularly challenging. The largest measure of this work required the HVAC upgrades to be completed for a five-level office/classroom building over the three-month summer session.

BUSINESS SPEA BUILDING EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS

  • 45.9 kW roof-mounted solar photovoltaic panel array; ballasted rack system
  • Web interface for remote monitoring of system performance, output, and alarms
  • Retrofit of air flow and pumping systems to variable flow
  • Steam condensate heat recovery
  • Low flow plumbing fixture upgrade
  • New building steam and chiller water meters

MEDICAL RESEARCH AND LIBRARY BUILDING

  • Lab air handling unit (AHU) with advanced heat recovery modifications
  • Redesigned LAB AHU coils piping to reduce excessive pump energy
  • Retrofit of air flow and pumping systems to variable flow
  • Control system expansion to save energy and increase thermal comfort
  • Low flow plumbing fixture upgrade
